“The love of God can defeat the foolishness of man, the seduction of the tempting voices, and even the deliberate rebellion of the heart.” – William Barclay

Blessed with fine weather and ease of time, Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School and Sto. Niño Parish School held their Annual Retreat last October 22 – 23, 2018 at Divine Grace, Leisure Park and Retreat Center located inside the LPL Compound, Brgy. Inosloban, Lipa City.  The 48 school personnel assembled at 5:00 a.m. in Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School to board 7 vans generously provided by Rex Bookstore.

Headed by the School Director, Dr. Leo B. Galve, and the School Principal, Dr. Marcella D. Bejado, the team travelled to the venue with much excitement and anticipation of what’s in-store for their annual spiritual nourishment.  After almost 2 hours and 30 minutes of travel from Pasig City, the team arrived safely at the venue to their hearts’ delight as they started to explore the exquisiteness of the place.  Notably are the state of the art structures combined with the touch of rustic provincial atmosphere that brought participants in awe.

After a short in-house orientation of Ms. Amy A. Dela Gente, General Manager, the participants were sent to their homely room to prepare for the first session.  Rev. Fr. Jojo Mendoza, Retreat Facilitator, was introduced by the School Director.  Activities of the retreat are as follows:

Session 1 – 6 Domains

Session 2 – 8 Stages of Life by Erik Erickson

Session 3 – Love by Pope Francis

Session 4 – Confession

Session 5 – Communication

Session 6 – Affirmation

Session 7 – The Parable of the Lost Son

Session 8 – Eucharistic Celebration

The retreat was presented in a very subtle yet full of enduring practical lessons for school personnel.  They were given ample time to reflect on their contributions and attitude to the school they serve, to renew their commitment to God, to their Family and to their work and to enliven their call to holiness through obligating the desire to build a strong and united work community. Indeed, the retreat has touched not only the minds but also the hearts of the participants.

Worth mentioning is the abundance of food and specially brewed coffee was overflowing. The beautiful garden kept the zeal for reflection and sharing alive.

After leaving the place, participants headed to Sto. Tomas, Batangas, for a visit to the incorruptible heart of St. Pio to pray for their personal intentions and for the success of the schools.

The Center for Christian formation, headed by Ms. Gina L. Bagtas, hopes that the imprints of the retreat will motivate school personnel on serving the Lord through the pupils they serve in particular and the school community in general.
