Scholastic Launches their First Reading Program in STVPS
By Vanessa D. Rogel
Scholastic, the new partner of STVPS in adhering to quality education, launched its first reading program by formally opening the Reading Center last August 12, 2016. The ribbon was cut by the School Director, Dr. Leo B. Galve.
The School’s Consultant, Ms. Kim Victoria, oriented the students by grade level and section inside the library during their English time. She explained the different kinds of books, the lexile level, and how to get free books. She also gave free books to those students who answered her questions correctly. Students were asked to visit the reading center afterwards to see the books prepared by Scholastic for their reading program. Each book is classified by lexile level. Some grade levels from the Elementary Department met Clifford, the Scholastic’s ambassador.
With this program, students will be able to discover more books of their interest that are appropriate for their lexile level and will be able to enhance their reading comprehension not only during the school year but throughout their lives.
