The High School Basketball Team triumphantly took their second win over Sta. Rosa Catholic School held at Pasig Catholic College Gymnasium last September 2, 2014.  Despite frequent rains and drizzles, the team continued their practice for the next hurdle to perfect their agility and skill in the hard court.
The first quarter was slow as the team could not advance higher ending at 16 – 17 in favor of STVPS.  The end of the second quarter was disheartening marking the 8 points lead of SRCS at 40 – 32.  The three-point shots were unsuccessful while drives and lay-ups, futile.  During halftime, Coach Joel Yacap met the boys and presented to them various playing techniques to be employed in the court. “The boys could not afford to be complacent,” said Coach Joel Yacap.
The third quarter ended up with 50 – 66 in favor of STVPS.  Three point shots and assists were successful and remarkable.  Exhaustion never daunted the players as they continue dribbling the score during the fourth quarter.  Finally, it ended at 73 – 100 favoring STVPS.  Amiel Joseph Pineda made remarkable contributions through his successful handling of the ball and accurate baskets while Angelo Barabad, escalated his individual score through three point shots.
Surprisingly, Kenneth Lance Manalansan, though a rookie, scored 8 points in the last 2:37 minutes of the fourth quarter.
Congratulations High School Basketball Team!  May you continue being a trooper of Sto. Tomas de Villanueva.
