The first game encounter of the STVPS volleyball girls against Sta. Rosa Catholic School was held at Pateros Catholic School last August 19, 2014 against Sta. Rosa Catholic School.  With the School Principal, Dr. Leo B. Galve, Sports Coordinator, Mr. Joel I. Yacap and the Coach, Ms. Cathy Dulay, the team tried to beat their first opponent at the beautiful volleyball court of Pateros Catholic School.  Despite heavy rains before the start of the game, the girls maintained their confidence and eagerness to win as they effortlessly conquered the first set at 25-10.  However, the second set was not easy as the girls lost grip of their momentum and ended with a bitter 17-25 loss bringing the game to a third and deciding set.  Coach Cathy Dulay brought back the original first 6 but the margin seemed too difficult to advance.  The training of these girls proved to be effective as they ended the third and deciding set 25-23 in favor of STVPS.  The excellent digs of the libero Mikhaela Gonzalez, the successful sets of Kyla Ramos, excellent service of Jennalyn Dulay, and the hits of Ma. Elena Cruz, Monica Martirez and Nicole Robin Diaz made significant contributions to win the game.

On the other hand, the STVPS Volleyball boys competed with Escuela Catolica de San Sebastian at the Pasig Catholic College Gymnasium last August 20, 2014.  Although the boys were inferior in height, their training and skill brought them to win the game in two sets, 25-18, 25-11.  With a little jitter in the first set, several errors in services, sets, switching, and receives were noted.  However, in the second set, the boys improved their communications and accuracy.  Romeo Abigpa III, made several successful drop balls and spikes against a much taller blocker.  The digs and excellent receives of Alfred Denly Siena, Carl Joseph Ferrer and Justin Marcelo, the service aces of Riel Paden, Ceazar Briones, Raffy Garcia contributed much in winning the game.  Although John Israel Sebastian had to make a lot of adjustments in his sets, the hitter took them to their advantage converting the hits to points.  Special thanks to Coach Jefferson Dignos for the success of these boys.

Congratulations Volleyball Team.  We hope that you will be more faithful in your training as you prepare for the second game.
