1.    PREFACE/GREETINGS: God is good! All the time! Jesus Christ! My Lord and My God! Holy Spirit! My Advocate and Helper! Immaculate Heart of Mary! Be my salvation!
2.    PROCLAMATION: First Principle and Philosophy of Education: I believe in the uniqueness of every person. Second Principle and Philosophy: I believe in the dignity of each human being. The Third Principle: I believed has a tremendous potential. The key word is potential. It means the capacity to become better. It also means possibility. It is the quality of being realizable. It means it can develop into something else.

What is the foundation of the man’s potential? First, when God created man / woman, God created him / her not as a finished product. As the saying goes: “Be patient with me! God is not finished with yet.” Just like a seed that has the potential t become fruit tree, in the same way, each person has the potential and the possibility to become a fully human and fully alive individual. Second, every person is endowed with freedom. Freedom enables him / her to choose among alternatives. Freedom enables man to improve himself. Freedom with the aid of intellect will direct him to what is the truth and what is good for him. With freedom, man can realize his potential. Third, man has the capacity to project himself into the future. He can project what he will be five years from now or ten years from now. With a clear self-project, he can start planning how to reach his goals. If my goal is to be a doctor someday, then I should start being serious with my studies, especially biology subject and other related subjects. I will see to it that very day is a step closer to my goal. If my goal is to become a good journalist, then I should be serious with communication arts: vocabularies, grammar, forms of speech, reading, language, etc.

3. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: What are the implications of possessing a tremendous potentials?

3.1. Because I have potential, I cannot lose hope. And I will not allow small setbacks to stop me from pursuing my goals in life.

3.2. Because I have tremendous potential, I will not affected by the negative judgment of others. I know myself better that them, I know my potentials. I know what I can do.

3.3. Because others have potential in themselves, I have no right to limit their possibilities. History has shown that the powerful become lowly and lowly become powerful. The kings were sent empty away, the poor are blessed with so much.

3.4. Because others have potentials, I will give them the respect they deserve. I will support them and give them my affirmation.

Remember always, God is not finished with us yet! With God’s grace and our own effort, we can become a better person. As St. Ignatius of Loyola said: “Pray as if everything depends on God, but work as if everything depends on you.”

God bless,

Fr. Orlando B. Cantillon
