postheadericon Yellow and red cakes adorned the image of the Blessed Virgin

By Admin

December 8 is one of the most celebrated feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Immaculate Conception.  The Immaculate Conception is the conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary free from original sin by virtue of the merits of her son Jesus.  God acted upon her in the first moment of her conception, keeping her “Immaculate.”

Since December 8 falls on a Sunday, the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School offered cakes in honor of the Virgin on Dec. 6, 2019, the First Friday of December.

615 cakes in red and yellow boxes were offered during the Mass with Fr. Darwin Calderon as the celebrant.  Immediately, 80 cakes were distributed to Santolan Elementary School, 80 to Santolan High School, 20 to Jeremiah Foundation, 30 to Dela Paz Elementary School, 80 to Manggahan Elementary School, 15 were forwarded to the Feeding Program of a small BEC community, and 15 were allocated for the Vincentian Feeding Program.  The remaining 295 cakes were distributed by the Parish through the Social Service and Development Ministry and Parish’s volunteer workers.

The school is grateful for the participation of the parents, students and its personnel to the annual Cake Festival.  Indeed, these cakes made the Christmas celebration of little children and adults extra special.
