postheadericon PAC Turns-Over Two Smart TV’s

By Admin

One of the many commitments of the Parents Advisory Council 2019-2020 is to provide two Smart TV’s in aid of classroom instruction to the grade school department. Under the leadership of the two-time PAC President, Mrs. Susan A. Tagle and the cooperation of equally dedicated officers, the 43-inch Smart colour TV’s were purchased in the hope of providing teachers a variety of approaches to classroom instruction using audio-video formats.

Learning potentials of pupils are stimulated effectively when two or more sensory abilities are utilized, thus, transfer of learning is faster and lasting.

Teachers, on the other hand, are quite excited to use this technology to widen their teaching creativity and style.

Dr. Galve, received the TV’s from Mrs. Susan A. Tagle, PAC President and Mrs. Gloria L. Latorena, Grade 6 Representative. These TV’s shall be installed in the classrooms of Grade 1, St. Therese of the Child Jesus and Children of Fatima.

The school expresses its profound gratitude to the Lord for sending cooperative, dedicated and selfless parents of PAC 2019-2020.

postheadericon STVPS Honors the Blessed Virgin - Living Rosary 2019

By Admin

The Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, formerly known as Our Lady of Victory, is the feast day of the Roman Catholic Church, celebrated on October 7, the anniversary of the decisive victory of the combined fleet of the Holy League of 1571 over the Ottoman navy at the Battle of Lepanto. (Wikipedia)

Joining the universal celebration, the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School held the Living Rosary after the flag ceremony on October 7, 2019, in the quadrangle with designated spaces to be occupied by assigned students to represent the beads of the Rosary. These students were clad with their gala in their First Communion and their patron saints. Every mystery, students were assigned to offer their gifts to the Blessed Virgin Mary. These little gifts (school supplies) will be given to the pupils of the nearby public school and the recipients of the Feeding Program. Towards the end of the Rosary, school personnel offered flowers to the image of the young Mary in the Altar.

“Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you!”

postheadericon Grade Six Annual Retreat

By Admin

Grade six St. Padre Pio and St. Ferdinand of Castile III were sent to St. Michael Retreat Center last October 4-5, 2019 for their annual retreat. The retreat hopes to spiritually prepare these pupils for their graduation in 2020. The retreat was designed to provide opportunity for pupils to express themselves and their faith assessing their readiness for the next phase of their life. Activities were mostly group dynamics and were deepened through sharing in a plenum. Before going up the retreat house, these two sections attended the First Friday Mass of the entire school community celebrated by Rev. Fr. Darwin L. Calderon, School Chaplain.

Ms. Gina Bagtas, Mr. Dale Francis Agustin, and Mrs. Rechelle Carolino, accompanied the two advisers Mrs. Joan Binwag and Ms. Lourdes Belza in facilitating the activities and ensuring the safety of the retreatants. Dr. Leo B. Galve and Dr. Marcella D. Bejado took a little of their time to visit the pupils in the evening and ate dinner with them.

Bro. Mark de Guzman was the retreat facilitator of the Grade 6 pupils who considered this school activity one of the most memorable experiences in their elementary days.

Congratulations Grade 6 pupils! May the Lord continue to inspire you in living a virtuous life inspired by St. Thomas of Villanova.

postheadericon STVPS & SNPS Visit Western Visayas

By Admin

The Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School and the Sto. Niño Parish School attended the CEAP National Convention in Western Visayas last September 25-27, 2019 with Dr. Leo B. Galve, Dr. Marcella D. Bejado, Mrs. Susana S. Nahag, Ms. Maria Imelda M. Balabat and Mrs. Elma O. Acena as delegates. The three main objectives of the participation to the National Assembly Center include but are not limited to: 1. Update on new innovations and trends in Catholic Education; 2. Receive the certificates of new membership; and 3. Explore Guimaras. The delegates flew from Manila on September 24, 2019 at 11:00 p.m. and arrived at Iloilo International Airport 5 minutes before midnight. They were ferried to Days Hotel with their couch captain for three days, Mr. Joe Ann Detanoy. Despite lack of sleep, the group managed to wake up early, ate breakfast and proceeded to Iloilo Convention Center to claim their kits and attended the Eucharistic Celebration in the afternoon. Day two marked the meat of the convention as the delegates were divided into 2 groups to attend the concurrent sessions for high school teachers and for administration. The evening was quite exciting as Phoenix Publishing House and Aviba invited the group for dinner. Both invitations were attended. In Day 3, the delegates made sure to be in the venue as early as possible in order to secure a place near the stage to receive the recognition certificates. Sto. Niño Parish School, despite being the new member of CEAP, received the Plaque of Recognition for celebrating its 25th founding anniversary. Dr. Bejado received the plaque of recognition from the outgoing president Rev. Fr. Joel E. Tabora, SJ. After which, representatives from new member schools were called to receive the certificate of membership. Dr. Bejado represented Sto. Niño  while Dr. Galve and Mrs. Nahag represented Sto. Tomas de Villanueva. Before noon, the team headed to Jordan, Guimaras through the newly restored pump boat transport as it was suspended due to the sea mishap that happened last August 2019. They stayed in San Antonio, Nueva Valencia, the birthplace of Dr. Galve. Before flying back to Manila, the delegates were treated to a sumptuous lunch in honor of the fest of St. Michael the Archangel.
