postheadericon STVPS and SNPS Annual Retreat 2018

“The love of God can defeat the foolishness of man, the seduction of the tempting voices, and even the deliberate rebellion of the heart.” – William Barclay

Blessed with fine weather and ease of time, Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School and Sto. Niño Parish School held their Annual Retreat last October 22 – 23, 2018 at Divine Grace, Leisure Park and Retreat Center located inside the LPL Compound, Brgy. Inosloban, Lipa City.  The 48 school personnel assembled at 5:00 a.m. in Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School to board 7 vans generously provided by Rex Bookstore.

Headed by the School Director, Dr. Leo B. Galve, and the School Principal, Dr. Marcella D. Bejado, the team travelled to the venue with much excitement and anticipation of what’s in-store for their annual spiritual nourishment.  After almost 2 hours and 30 minutes of travel from Pasig City, the team arrived safely at the venue to their hearts’ delight as they started to explore the exquisiteness of the place.  Notably are the state of the art structures combined with the touch of rustic provincial atmosphere that brought participants in awe.

After a short in-house orientation of Ms. Amy A. Dela Gente, General Manager, the participants were sent to their homely room to prepare for the first session.  Rev. Fr. Jojo Mendoza, Retreat Facilitator, was introduced by the School Director.  Activities of the retreat are as follows:

Session 1 – 6 Domains

Session 2 – 8 Stages of Life by Erik Erickson

Session 3 – Love by Pope Francis

Session 4 – Confession

Session 5 – Communication

Session 6 – Affirmation

Session 7 – The Parable of the Lost Son

Session 8 – Eucharistic Celebration

The retreat was presented in a very subtle yet full of enduring practical lessons for school personnel.  They were given ample time to reflect on their contributions and attitude to the school they serve, to renew their commitment to God, to their Family and to their work and to enliven their call to holiness through obligating the desire to build a strong and united work community. Indeed, the retreat has touched not only the minds but also the hearts of the participants.

Worth mentioning is the abundance of food and specially brewed coffee was overflowing. The beautiful garden kept the zeal for reflection and sharing alive.

After leaving the place, participants headed to Sto. Tomas, Batangas, for a visit to the incorruptible heart of St. Pio to pray for their personal intentions and for the success of the schools.

The Center for Christian formation, headed by Ms. Gina L. Bagtas, hopes that the imprints of the retreat will motivate school personnel on serving the Lord through the pupils they serve in particular and the school community in general.

postheadericon STVPS Honors the Blessed Virgin

By Admin

The Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School honors the Blessed Virgin and culminates the Month of the Holy Rosary through the Living Rosary of the entire School Community last October 19, 2018 at the school’s quadrangle. The Center for Christian Formation headed by its Coordinator, Ms. Gina Bagtas, assigned high school students with balloons as beads of the Rosary. Pupils from preschool to grades 3, clad with national costumes of United Nations, offered flowers to the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Moreover, Dr. Leo B. Galve, School Director, requested students from Grades 4 to 10 to offer certain amount to be donated to a student in Grade 7 who is currently in critical condition. The call is also open to teachers and parents who were present during the Living Rosary.

The general intentions of the Living Rosary are to pray for the school’s endeavors and healing to the ailing student.

“Mary conceived without original sin: Pray for us who have recourse to thee!”

postheadericon STVPS Teachers, Parents and Students Extend Assistance

By Admin

During the Living Rosary on October 19, 2018, Dr. Leo Galve, School Director, appealed to the generosity of the school community in extending assistance to the grade 7 student who is in serious medical conditions. The Director himself was the first to drop his share of help which was followed by teachers, parents and students.
The call for help was made public the day before the Living Rosary. The total amount reached to a whopping 18,323.00. Through the help of the adviser, Ms. Angelou Arce, his classmates set-up “Ukay-ukay” selling clothes, children’s sandals, bags, dictionaries, etc. which were sold to parents and students during the Living Rosary. The proceeds were intended for Lredd.
Some alumni of Batch 1997 extended their help too. Dr. Marcella D. Bejado, in her unquestionable generosity shelled out her share closing the amount to 20,100.00.
At exactly 1:00 pm, Dr. Leo B. Galve, Dr. Marcella D. Bejado, Mrs. Susana S. Nahag, Mrs. Helen H. Aquino, Ms. Rufina M. Abucot, Ms. Angelou Arce together with 6 closest classmates headed to the Hospital to hand-in the collected amount. They met the mother and the aunt outside the Pediatric ICU who were very happy of the gesture to shed a ray of hope for healing. The visitors were allowed to enter the sterile room by two’s and tried to communicate to the then, comatose patient caused by Biliary Atresia manifested in chronic liver rejection, thus, needing retransplant.
The parent was ever grateful to the STVPS school community for the initiative and hopes that through prayers, whatever God Almighty wills, will be wholeheartedly accepted. (The day after the visit, Lredd has returned to his Creator on October 20, 2018 at 9:13a.m. Interment is on October 23, 2018)

postheadericon Mr. Alvin Altarejos Visits STVPS and SNPS

By Admin

Teachers of Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School and Sto. Niño Parish welcome Mr. Alvin Altarejos as speaker on the assessment of the extent of implementation of Philippine Catholic Schools Standards. In preparation for the upcoming PaDSS Annual Planning, STVPS and SNPS hope to keep abreast in identifying “How Catholic are our Catholic Schools.”

Mr. Alvin was also invited to talk about Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to personnel of STVPS after he successfully completed PaDSS Speakers Bureau program. He noted that his first engagement to STVPS 10 years ago was his baptism of fire that opened the doors for more speaking invitations.

After the talk, the certificate of appreciation was conferred by Dr. Leo B. Galve and Dr. Marcella D. Bejado to the ever bubbly and equally interesting speaker who provided the participants information overload.

Thank you sir Alvin for providing school teaching personnel essentials on evaluating the school of PCSS way!
