postheadericon LENTEN RECOLLECTION

No less than the Bishop of Pasig, Bishop Mylo Hubert C. Vergara gave a solemn and meaningful diocese-wide Lenten Recollection at Sta. Clara de Montefalco Parish in Caniogan Pasig City last February 25, 2012.  Thirty-seven (37) school personnel and twelve (12) specially selected students left the school campus for Sta. Clara at 6:30 a.m. Ms. Rechelle Carolino and some teachers and students served as registration officers while Ms. Gina Bagtas took pictures for documentation.  At 7:00 o’clock, Rev. Fr. Daniel Estacio imposed the Blessed Sacrament.  While participants were flocking to the parish, STV Youth Ministry, Knights of the Altar, Liturgical Dancers, and students of Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School entertained the guests with numerous dances.  Dr. Leo Galve, led the community for the praying of the Holy Rosary.  Around 8:40 a.m., Rev. Fr. Ramil R. Marcos, Chairman, Diocesan Education Ministry, recognized the participants for their coming and introduced the Bishop, the cue for the start of the recollection proper.  The theme of the recollection is a call to deepen our faith, hope, and love in Christ:  A time in our personal lives for a new life to open and for old frozen attitudes to disappear (pagbabagong buhay).  He ended his talk almost 10:10 a.m. providing enough time for the participants to take their snacks and for the priests to hear confession.  A concelebrated mass of 50 priests in the diocese followed at 11:00 a.m. with the Bishop as the main celebrant.  After the Eucharistic Celebration, school personnel and selected students went out to eat lunch together.

postheadericon STVPS Junior-Senior Prom (February 11, 2012)… A Magical Night to remember…

Attending prom is often a rite of passage for juniors and seniors in high school. Students anticipate prom all year long, and it rewards them for their hard work. Prom also carries an element of exclusiveness that furthers the excitement surrounding this special event. Prom--and all of the work that goes into putting it together--provides numerous benefits for high school students.

After an hour of getting ready for the big night, students arrived at prom. At 6 p.m., hairstyles are arranged and neckties are tied, to let the festivities begin. The STVPS lobby begins to fill with beautiful young people, excited for their evening of fun. Proud teachers gush over their handsome and beautiful students. Overly stimulated parents dash back and forth admiring the exotic creatures of their sons and daughters that look sort of like movie stars.

Couples and groups of friends line up around the quadrangle for a scene reminiscent of Hollywood’s red carpet promenades for the grand entrance. The "stars" of the night enter the building slowly as the camera flashes light up slowly revealing the magic of the night. The music had just started and everyone was already ready to get their groove on. They headed out to the dance floor with their partners/dates.

After the promenade, the students enter the prom for the long awaited highlight of their evening, a final chance to delight in each other’s company before they spread out to futures all over the world. Everyone basks in the warm glow of a good time, having made a memory unique to experience and to cherish by all for years to come, High School junior-senior prom at the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parochial School.
