postheadericon Y3 Mocks NCAE

100% of the third year students mocked the NCAE last August 18, 2012 in preparation for the actual test on August 29, 2012.  Dr. Leo Galve, school principal assigned Ms. Maria Imelda Balabat as School Testing Coordinator with Mrs. Helen Aquino - MAKABAYAN Coordinator, Ms. Gina Bagtas – CIE Coordinator, Ms. Maria Lucia Cruz – Math and Science Coordinator to be the room supervisors while Mrs. Josefina S. Lausingco – Assistant to the Principal took charge of the logistical concerns.   She was assisted by Mr. Joel Yacap – one of the third year advisers.  Four classrooms of the second and third years were utilized to house the 98 examinees grouped into 30, 30, 30, & 8.  The room examiners who will be sent to Santolan High School during the actual test are Mrs. Ma. Nenette D. Rogel, Ms. Jelisa R. Victorino, Mrs. Rechelle S. Carorilo and Mrs. Ingrid C. Del Rosario.  Dr. Leo Galve designed the Mock Test to comprise the Reading Comprehension, Scientific Ability, Mathematical Ability, Non-verbal Ability, Entrepreneurial Skills, and Clerical Ability following the actual number of items and time allocation.  The Mock Test was designed to technically prepare the students to take the actual test especially in answering the student’s information and the descriptive questionnaire.  Examinees were gathered in the school grounds at 7:00 a.m. and took the test proper from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Good luck third year students.  We hope the test will be able to determine your options which will guide you to choose your career path.

postheadericon Southwest Monsoon Rains Hit Almost “Typhoon Ondoy”: STVPS Serves as the School and Parish’s Kitchen

July 7, 2012 was almost as remarkable as September 26, 2009 when Ondoy hit Santolan with much water.  Surprisingly, the water did not envelop the grounds of the school providing hope for those whose houses and properties have been submerged once again to murky waters of the river.  It was actually torrential southwest monsoon rains that stirred the water up above the river banks and into residences.  As per record, there were around 172 families and approximately 840 people took refuge in the second floor of the canteen, rooms 25, 27, 28 and the newly constructed room intended for Speech Laboratory.  However, during distribution of food, the number of people grew to a little more than 20%.  Severe flooding also reached the houses of some school personnel who accommodated several classrooms with their families.  With the help of the indefatigable members of the Social Service and Development Ministry of the Parish, the school did not only provide shelter to the people but also served as the kitchen of the evacuees in the school and the parish.  Headed by Sis. Marvie Cruz and assisted by Sis. Fely Bruno, Sis. Letlet Corbe, Sis. Norma Ampig, Sis. Carolyn Santiago, and Dr. Leo Galve, the group cooked cauldrons of goto, champorado, mishua, noodles, rice, corned beef and sardines.  The foods that they cooked were provided by the Parish.  Some generous friends of Fr. Ramil R. Marcos came to the parish and the school to distribute food to the evacuees.  Some school personnel who were not affected by the flood also lent their hands in the preparation and distribution of the food.  The school was freed from visitors 3 days after.  Cleaning and hygienic spray was done last August 10 and 11 respectively.

postheadericon Si Ginang Josefina S. Lausingco Assistant to the Principal

Lausingco.

postheadericon Mass of the Holy Spirit

To invoke the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the good School Director and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ramil R. Marcos invited public and Private Schools to attend the joint Mass of the Holy Spirit at the Santo Tomas de Villanueva Parish last June 22, 2012.  Representatives from Santolan Elementary School, Santolan High School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Dela Paz Elementary School, and Sto. Niño the Shepherd School were accompanied by some of their teachers and school administrators as they jam packed the parish prompting the parish personnel to provide more mono block chairs outside the church.  Rev. Fr. Ramil Marcos recognized the presence of each school and their administrators as he called one volunteer from each school to present their unique character.  A special blessing was given to the teachers and school administrators.
